I don’t see why anyone would feel the Driving my husband crazy one goat at a time shirt need to borrow your car when they have one of their own. I’m assuming you made the request specifically because he’s been borrowing your car, which he’s done without asking first. But you both had cars, in your names when you married, and if you divorced tomorrow, you’d get to keep your cars. The house and other belongings bought in both your names, acquired after the marriage, would likely have to be split evenly. My husband and I have been married for over 9 years and we both have a car. Both cars were bought during the course of our marriage. Mine is paid for, his is not. Mine is actually in my name, he is in his name. We do consider mine the family car just because it’s roomier (and cleaner), so we use it more often when going places as a couple or a family, including grocery shopping.

I have driven his car and he’s driven mine. But when he leaves the Driving my husband crazy one goat at a time shirt house now that we both have cars, he always takes his own car. There has never been an issue where he borrows my car, screwing up my mirrors, the position of the driver’s seat, and using up gas he didn’t replace because he drives his own car if he needs to go somewhere without me. And when we go places together in my car, I always drive. There has never once been an argument about who owns the cars. Obviously they belong to us both, but we chose which is whose car and that’s how we treat them. I suspect this may be a symptom of a much bigger issue. Pay close attention to other controlling behavior he’s exhibiting and trying to turn around on you. Also, notice if he tends to ignore your boundaries. You may actually be in a potentially abusive relationship and he’s starting the grooming process with your car. Don’t let it go too far.
