Millennial is usually the go-to word to tip the I am a millennial so my retirement plan shirt boomers off their edge This will only work for fathers who are employed. If you are self-employed you get no time off. As long as they do use it to take care of kiddo and help mom heck yeah we complain that man is not implied enough in parenthood is a chance to change this. Absolutely yes to this! Having a baby is both emotionally and physically exhausting! It turns your whole body and reality completely on its head. If you have a child already then imagine coping with them, the pain, and sleep deprivation alone. Not only do new mothers need support, but the father also needs and wants to bond with his baby. Why shouldn’t men get the chance to bond with the child they’re working to support?

Best I am a millennial so my retirement plan shirt
Queue all the I am a millennial so my retirement plan shirt old people saying “back in my day we just didn’t develop relationships with our fathers and we turned out fine”. On a serious note, I used all my PTO when I had my child, almost 2 months’ worth, and we had a great time bonding and giving Mom a break, was absolutely worth it for me and I think it should be the norm. I work for a small family business and taking maternity leave would financially cripple the company. SMP isn’t enough to live on. Thankfully my husband can take shared parental leave at full pay.
So I can carry on working from two weeks PP and he can spend quality time bonding with the baby, which he never had the opportunity to do before shared parental leave was a thing. It’s wonderful. It’s great for big companies who can absorb the costs but smaller Companies could not pay for the paternity leave and then pay someone to cover thier job whilst they were off work. No way.
